St James College - BRISBANE

Centrally located at the edge of the Brisbane CBD, walking distance to all major transport hubs, St James College offers a broad curriculum in both academic and Vocational Education and Training pathways. Students are prepared for lifelong learning whether that means direct entry to university or continuation of Traineeship and Apprenticeship preparation at TAFE Colleges or directly in industry.

As a Catholic Coeducational secondary College in the Edmund Rice tradition, St James develops effective programs in a small, caring environment with a strong emphasis on pastoral care. This diverse learning community is supported by range of learning professionals trained to meet specific learning needs. The College employs education specialists in student counselling , teaching English to students with a non-English background, in the development of education adjustment programs for students with specific difficulties and liaison officers who support students and families from specific cultural backgrounds.

The curriculum at St James follows principles of inclusion and offers abroad range of learning experiences including both academic and vocational pathways. Students may study Hospitality Practices in industry-standard kitchens, preparing them directly for industry and further studies in Hospitality and Tourism. Students are offered a range of Certificate courses in Engineering, Building and construction and Workplace Practices.

Students intending to continue studies at university are catered for with a full range of Queensland Studies Authority subjects. Subjects cover the areas of English, Mathematics, Sciences, Arts, Health and Physical Education, Business Information Technology and Religious Education. St James students are prepared for future success in studies, work and life, regardless of their aspirations.

In its 140 year history, St James College has always accepted students from a diverse range of cultural backgrounds. Since the 1980s, St James has been developing its expertise in working with International Students. In August 2007, St James College proudly accepted an award from the Queensland government for outstanding International Support Services and Pastoral Care.
